RESIDENTS are being urged to get on their bikes and see what cycling can offer.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is hosting a two-day meeting to discuss cycling issues in the community.
A ride around the Guisborough area will be included in the event.
The council's development department expects representatives from the English Regions Cycling Development Team's northern area, the Cycle Touring Club of Great Britain and cycling officers from North-East councils to attend today and tomorrow.
The event co-ordinator, engineer Neil Leighton, said: "We are responding to a call from the Department of Transport to organise an audit of cycle provision in the region."
The council's cabinet member for strategic planning, development and infrastructure, Councillor Eric Empson, said: "I am delighted we are able to welcome delegates to our area and show what we are doing to encourage more people to use cycles."
