POLICE said yesterday that they were disappointed with the results of a week-long seatbelt safety campaign.
Officers in North Yorkshire kept a special watch for drivers and passengers not wearing their belts last week. A number of check points were also set up.
In total, 83 fixed penalty tickets were issued to drivers and adult passengers. Three were also issued to drivers for children under 14 not wearing seatbelts.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "This was particularly disappointing. It is bad enough to risk your own life but risking your children's life is not acceptable to us."
