A SOLDIER has won a distinction for her physical training after spending only 17 weeks in the army.
Private Carley Watson of the Royal Logistic Corps, a former pupil of St Bedes RC school, in Peterlee, was awarded a trophy for the top performance in physical training in her platoon.
She was presented with an engraved pewter tankard during her leaving parade earlier this month.
Carley said: "I am pleased with my achievements and would like to continue to improve - particularly now as I'm going to my trade training."
Carley has chosen to become a driver and radio operator, and she will be trained at St Omagh Barracks.
