SURVEILLANCE and security camera specialist Cyberlyne Communications has set up a division that may create jobs in County Durham.
The Bishop Auckland company has set up Cyberlyne Sheet Metal, in Chilton.
Cyberlyne managing director Stephen Quigley said: "The venture is really the result of our need to secure quality of product and reliability of supply for our digital recorders. Because our needs are fairly specialist and relatively small in terms of individual product runs, we were experiencing difficulty in obtaining a reliable supply of material - so we decided to do it ourselves."
The Chilton premises will initially employ three people, including managing director of the division Andrew Hilary.
He said: "We have ambitions to turn over at least £500,000 within the next two years and will certainly need to find more people fairly soon. Before Christmas, we had to deliver an export order of 276 bus CCTV systems to Dublin Bus.
"The order was worth over £430,000 and it had to be delivered before the year end.
"Andrew's team was able to provide all the necessary metalwork and we delivered the whole order on schedule and on budget before Christmas."
