WILDLIFE enthusiasts in Darlington are being invited to do their bit for the environment.
The borough council's countryside team has organised two practical events to coincide with World Wetlands Day on Wednesday, February 2.
From 10.30am until noon, volunteers can lend a hand at St Williams' Pond, at the Rockwell local nature reserve. The site can be reached via Cornwall Avenue.
From 1pm onwards, work will start at Brankin Moor local nature reserve, behind the Williamson Motors Stadium in Neasham Road.
Work on both sites will include cutting back vegetation.
The sites are home to great crested newts and dragonflies.
The sessions are free and volunteers are asked to wear suitable warm clothing and bring wellies.
More details are available from the council on (01325) 388648.
