A RUGBY union club is to expand its pavilion headquarters.
At an earlier planning meeting, councillors defied officer's advice, and approved an application for Ripon Rugby Union Club's pavilion, off Mallorie Park Drive.
The application had to be reviewed this week because councillors had voted against officer recommendations.
But at the latest meeting, councillors unanimously supported the club's plans to increase the size of the building from 329sq m to 562sq m.
Since the previous meeting, planning officers' advice changed from refusal to approval.
Conditions have been imposed on the project including measures to prevent noise pollution.
The council's environmental health department officer said although the headquarters were fairly remote, some homes could be affected by the noise if the club is used for social functions.
He recommended that anti-sound measures were included and people avoided leaving windows and doors open.
