A MARKETING manager has been named top student in the region after completing his qualification at a Darlington college.
Timothy Abbott, 40, studied a postgraduate diploma in marketing at Darlington College of Technology.
He was awarded top marketing student by the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Mr Abbott, from Bishopton, near Stockton, originally trained as an engineer but moved into sales and marketing with his company Johnson Matthey Catalysts, in Billingham.
"I thought it would be a good idea to obtain a formal qualification in marketing to give me some new ideas as my job developed," he said.
"It was an excellent course and I'm really glad I turned to Darlington College as my tutor Phil Knowles made learning fun."
He said his wife Stephanie and children Benjamin, nine, and Jasmine, seven, were all really proud of his achievement.
