ONE of the region's major arts festivals will boast an international array of talent this year.
Leading artists from Japan, South Africa, Italy will be taking part in the two-week long event which opens at Settrington House, Malton, on July 15, and runs until Sunday, July 31.
Plans for the festival include a Rossini opera, and the commissioning of a community opera to be staged at Ryedale School.
There will be also be master classes run by top international horn player Richard Watkins.
A highlight will be a concert by the Navara String Quartet - three talented Dutch musicians and an English cellist - who recently won a national competition.
The Manchester Chamber Choir will be giving a concert at Ampleforth Abbey.
The catalogue of concerts, workshops and performances are held in a wide range of venues ranging from Ryedale's stately homes such as Hovingham and Castle Howard, to village churches such as St Mary's, Lastingham, and village halls.
