POLICE have seized drugs with a street value of about £1m as part of an ongoing operation.
A large quantity of ecstasy tablets, cocaine and cannabis were found at an address in Easington Lane, near Easington, County Durham, on Wednesday.
Two people were arrested and are helping police with their inquiries as a result of Operation Jericho, a joint operation led by Sunderland Crime and Intelligence Unit.
Inspector Ron Cruikshanks said: "This is one of a number of operations targeting dealers in class A drugs and we will be continuing with further operations in the area.
"This is a substantial recovery, which will make a major impact on the supply of drugs in the area."
In a separate raid more than £500 of drugs was recovered from a house in Ryton, near Gateshead, resulting in six men and one woman being arrested.
Cocaine, cannabis and other tablets were recovered at the house. The suspects are helping police with their inquiries.
