A Rod Stewart look-a-like is asking 'do ya think I'm sexy?' after having his trademark locks shaved off in aid of the Asian tsunami appeal.
For as long as he can remember, Paul Fenwick, of Challener Way, West Auckland, has been known as Rod because of his shaggy hairstyle.
But at the weekend, he shaved off his locks - dubbed 'from Rod to Mod' - and all for charity.
The 47-year-old father-of-one, a product supervisor at paint firm Potters Ballotini, said: "I was really nervous. Everyone knows me with long hair, people used to sing Rod songs as I went past. I had my hair cut in West Auckland Workingmen's Club and there was a good atmosphere but it feels cold - I'm definitely growing it straight back.
"The idea came when talking in the club about storm damage and I said we should think ourselves lucky when you consider the devastation out in Asia. Then someone offered me money to have my hair shaved off and more people started chipping in, they have been marvellous.
"I couldn't believe it when I counted up the money raised and it reached £1,000, which was my target."
