POLICE officers met a politician yesterday to take her on a tour of a troubled village.
Chief whip and N.W. Durham MP Hilary Armstrong met three officers who work in Burnhope, near Stanley.
Residents have complained about the anti-social behaviour of young people in the past, which has prompted a rise in the number of police patrols.
Yesterday, Mrs Armstrong met Sergeant Ian Robson, PC Norman Foster and Police Community Support Officer Ray Husband to discuss how to tackle the problem.
Sgt Robson said: "It was a very productive meeting and the MP was very forthcoming.
"Hopefully she is going to help us get funding to findsomething for the young people in the village to do."
He said that he hoped to work with the local councils to explore the possibility of developing a community centre at Burnhope Primary School.
