YORKSHIRE Water is the most efficient water company in the country, according to a new report.
Industry regulator Ofwat awarded the group four A-ratings for efficiency in its water and waste operations.
Yorkshire, which was named Utility Company of the Year in 2004, is the first water company to achieve four As from Ofwat.
Yorkshire Water director of regulation and investment, Richard Ackroyd, said: "Being the first water company to achieve four A-grades for efficiency is fantastic news, not only for us, but also for our customers.
"We have achieved band A-status for both our clean and waste water operations, even though we have one of the lowest average bills in the industry, and we are still able to fund an investment programme worth more than £300m a year."
The Ofwat Report on Water and Sewerage Unit Costs and Relative Efficiency analyses total and unit costs, then assesses how each company has performed and how it has maintained its capital assets.
