WOMAN TRAPPED: Fire crews were called to help free an elderly woman who had trapped herself in a walking frame. The incident happened at a residential home in Marine Parade, in Saltburn, on Saturday morning. Fire chiefs said the woman did not require medical attention and was not thought to have been hurt in the incident.
FLAT FIRE: Fire crews were called out to tackle a blaze at a first-floor flat yesterday. Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera to tackle the blaze in Farndale Square, Dormanstown, Redcar. Two crews from Redcar attended the incident yesterday morning. A kitchen and second-floor bathroom were damaged.No one was hurt in the incident.
MP'S SUPPORT: An MP has backed Government plans to introduce ID cards, saying they will help curb the illegal trade in smuggling foreign cheap labour into the UK. Redcar MP Vera Baird said the cards would make life difficult for criminals involved in the trade because their details would be kept on a central register. In a constituency newsletter the MP said the cards would also help prevent abuse of the social security system.
