A RENEWED appeal has been made for witnesses to a fatal accident in icy conditions on a dual carriageway.
Peterlee call centre worker David Riddell died after his scooter was struck by a van and car on the A19 between the A690 junction at Herrington and the Seaton turn-off, near Seaham, County Dur-ham, on Friday, January 14.
It was one of a spate of accidents in under three hours during the morning rush-hour on the east Durham and Wearside stretch of the A19.
Police closed the southbound carriageway for four hours.
Investigators have appealed for witnesses to the accident, which took place at about 6.20am.
The funeral for 24-year-old Mr Riddell, of Allendale Crescent, Penshaw, Wearside, was held at All Saints' Church, in Old Penshaw, on Tuesday.
