THE parents of a boy suffering from cerebral palsy are hoping to make his dream of swimming with dolphins come true.

Nine-year-old Liam Rogan has been affected by the condition since birth, and recently underwent a painful and costly operation to realign bones in his thighs.

Now he faces surgery to remove metal plates from his legs, but first, his parents hope to grant his lifelong wish.

They hope to raise enough money for Liam and twin brother Matt to visit Disneyland in Florida in October and swim with dolphins.

The trip will cost £6,000, and Liam's parents are hoping for sponsorship or donations to help raise funds.

Liam's father, Graham, 44, of The Crescent, Northallerton, North Yorkshire, said: "We have raised about half of it so far.

"Over the last few years, we have known Liam was going to have to be put through some pretty drastic surgery, so we would love to be able to take him up to Orlando and Disneyland as a treat.

"It has been hard for Matt as well, so we would like him to go too.

"The operation is already paid for, but we need money for the trip."

Mr Rogan has written to local companies appealing for donations, and money has also come from friends and family. Mr Rogan said: "Last year, me and my wife got married, and as a sacrifice, we asked that no one gave us gifts, but gave us money towards this trip instead."
