Lawyers in the drive-by shooting trial at Newcastle Crown Court have started giving their closing speeches.
William "Ike" Anderson is said to have had such a grudge against Stanley Creswell that he, his father and uncle hired a gunman to kill him.
Mr Creswell was shot in the arm as he stood at the garden gate of Thomas Anderson, known as Tommy, in Borrowdale Street, Hetton-le-Hole, County Durham on August 19, 2003. He was hit by a single bullet fired from a passing Ford Mondeo and spent more than a week in hospital.
Tommy Anderson, 48, along with his brother, William Anderson, 56, and nephew Ike Anderson, 30, are accused of hiring Arthur Pattinson as the gunman.
Ike Anderson, of High Street, Easington Lane, Tommy Anderson, of Borrowdale Street, Hetton-le-Hole, and William Anderson, of High Street, Easington Lane, and Pattinson, of Striding Edge, Washington, all deny conspiracy to harrass and conspiracy to murder.
The trial continues.
