THE outgoing chief executive of Darlington Borough Council received a round of applause for his efforts at a full meeting of the authority on Thursday.
Deputy Mayor Councillor Stella Robson said Barry Keel, who leaves on February 28 to take up a post in Plymouth, would be missed. "I'm sure that all the council will want to join in thanking Barry for eight years of splendid service in Darlington," she said.
"We are very grateful to Barry for all that he's done."
The council has appointed Paul Wildsmith, director of corporate services, as interim chief executive until a replacement is appointed.
