A TEENAGER from Consett has led a group of air cadets on an exploration of Hadrian's Wall.
Seventeen-year-old Cadet Corporal Damon Coates said: "It was an excellent day, the weather was glorious and the route was fascinating to explore and pretty easy to navigate."
A member of the Air Cadets for four years, he was promoted to Cadet Corporal last year and immediately led the way, taking part in the squadron's first overseas expedition exploring Normandy battlefields.
He is hoping to join the military and has enrolled on a uniformed services course at Derwentside College.
He regularly puts the skills he is learning on the course to good use with cadets in the squadron and helps run sports evenings and outdoor activities.
Consett Air Cadets meet on Mondays and Fridays, from 7pm to 9pm, at their Parliament Street headquarters.
