FIREFIGHTERS were called to free a 12-year-old boy whose leg was impaled on a rusty nail as he climbed a garden wall in Stanley on Sunday.
The incident occured outside a house in Barn Hill. A crew from High Handenhold freed the boy using bolt croppers. Paramedics gave treatment before taking him to the University Hospital of North Durham, to have the nail removed.
