A ROAD race is to be revived in Hartlepool.
The town will host what was once an annual five-mile race, called The Hartlepool Marina 5.
The Hartlepool Burn Road Harriers and the borough council announced yesterday the return of the race.
It will take place on Sunday, April 3, and is open to all levels of runners, from beginners to leading club athletes.
The race will start from Hartlepool Historic Quay and go along the promenade to Seaton Carew and back.
It is open to anyone over the age of 16.
Race director and Burn Road harrier Stuart Pailor said: "As many road races in the UK are folding because of concerns over safety, it is fantastic that Hartlepool council and ourselves are working together to stage The Hartlepool Marina 5."
Entry forms can be obtained from Mill House Leisure Centre, Eldon Grove Sports Centre, Summerhill and all libraries. The cost is £5 for club members and £7 for unaffiliated runners.
