A pervert who spied on female recruits after putting a camera in their showers is still being hunted.

Military police investigating the incident at the Army Foundation College in Harrogate have been unable to find the culprit.

In August a camera, no bigger than a coin, was discovered on a wall as around 20 teenage recruits took a shower.

The device was handed to their investigating officer and an investigation was launched.

A search by Army chiefs revealed the camera was connected to a television via a transmitter in another room.

Officers were unable to trace the owner, believed to be a non-commissioned officer.

A spokeswoman for the college said last night: "The investigation is still on going.

It has not been closed yet but nobody has been charged."

At the time a recruit from Cambria Company 9th platoon, who did not want to be named, said: "This is the last thing you expect to happen to you on an Army training camp.

The foundation college is open to 16-year-old girls and boys who are considering a career in the Army but are too young to join the forces. They are given military and vocational training to be successful in the Army's frontline fighting forces.

At the end of the one-year foundation programme they are guaranteed a job in the Army for four years with the Royal Armoured Corps, Royal Artillery or Infantry Regiment.
