A TEXTILE artist from the North-East is preparing to take part in an exhibition in London next week.
Julia Triston, from Dipton, near Stanley, County Durham, has produced five pieces of work based on the theme of quirky faces.
She is exhibiting with textile artists from Scotland, Switzerland, Holland and New Zealand after being asked to join the internationally-renowned Prism Group.
Ms Triston said: "They are all based on the human face and influenced by bright and bold colours.
"The study comes from body decorations, such as piercing and make-up.
"I feel very privileged to have been asked to join this group and am looking forward to the exhibition."
Ms Triston works with silk, satin, velvet and foil and embellishes the material with bead, buttons and mirrors. She is holding a series of textile workshops at The Store, in Dipton. They will be held on Wednesdays, starting February 23, from 9.30am to 3pm. Each session costs £25 and includes lunch and refreshments. To book a place, contact (01207) 570285.
