A TOILET block is finally being re-opened after ten years.
Work starts on Monday on the toilets in Guisborough as part of a £200,000 scheme to upgrade public conveniences throughout Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's area.
A four to six-week programme, costing over £80,000, starts on Monday at the toilets in Northgate. Improvements include providing a disabled access and baby changing facility.
Cabinet member for environmental improvement Councillor Bob Stanway said: "I'm afraid to say it's an absolute mystery why these toilets have been closed for over ten years. I'm delighted the work is going to start and be open in time for the summer visitors."
About £11,000 of the cost of the refurbishment is coming from the council's Guisborough area environment committee. The remainder comes from the £200,000 that has been set aside for upgrades over the next three years.
