CHARITY campaigners have highlighted a North-East town's efforts to improve access issues for disabled people.
Representatives of Pendle Council, in Lancashire, visited some of Darlington town centre's most prominent buildings to see how they deal with disability issues.
They were shown around the town hall, Crown Street Library and the Civic Theatre by members of Darlington Association on Disability (Dad) and borough council officials.
Dad chairman Gordon Pybus said: "They wanted to come up to see the model of good practice that we have in working closely with Darlington Borough Council.
"When we showed them round the library, they felt it was a great example of what a council could do with such an old building."
Councillor Frank Wren, of Pendle Council, said: "I'm extremely happy that we came up here, there is a tremendous co-operation between the council and the organisation that we can learn from."
