AMANDA DEXTER has been appointed by a primary care trust as a manager to work with people living in north Durham.
Ms Dexter has taken up her role as public partnership and communications manager for Durham and Chester-le-Street Primary Care Trust (PCT).
She previously worked as health theme co-ordinator at Hartlepool PCT, where she worked with residents to improve health as part of the New Deal for Communities programme.
In her new role, she will be responsible for ensuring the health service responds to the needs of the population and engages and listens to its communities.
She will also be involved in the development and implementation of a trust patient, carer and public involvement strategy and communications strategy.
Ms Dexter said: "I will make sure patients are involved in the decision making about their healthcare.
"As well as being involved with the public, I will also be working with social services and voluntary and community sector groups."
