A POLICEMAN denied murdering his wife when he made his first appearance at crown court yesterday.
PC Graham Jones, known as Ivor, pleaded not guilty to murdering his wife, Maria, at their Teesside home in December last year.
The hairdresser, a mother-of-three and the 40-year-old officer's second wife, was found in the bedroom of their £250,000 detached house, and had been stabbed several times.
PC Jones, of Barwick Court, Ingleby Barwick, near Stockton, is an experiened officer with Cleveland Police and at yesterday's brief hearing at Teesside Crown Court spoke only to confirm his name and formally enter his plea.
No application for bail was made by his barrister, Rod Hunt, and PC Jones was remanded in custody to appear for trial on May 9. The trail is expected to last up to ten days.
