A COUPLE experienced a wedding with a difference at the weekend as they tied the knot Viking fashion.
Ian and Hazell Uzell held the re-enactment at Clifford's Tower as part of festivities to celebrate the 20th Jorvik Viking Festival, which celebrates the city's Viking heritage during two weeks of events.
Other festival events include two battle re-enactments, Viking longships on the Ouse and Scandinavian cultural saga and song events.
Hundreds of warriors, traders and craftsmen from all over the UK and Europe are also to visit the city. York City Council has been working with four local primary schools and Jorvik to produce the saga presentations.
It also worked with eight after-school clubs from across the city to produce banners for the opening event on Friday.
The festival runs until February 20. For a full programme, go to www.vikingjorvik.com or call (01904) 543403.
