A SECOND series of the pro-celebrity football clash, The Match, is to be filmed in the North-East, according to one of the show's original stars.
Famous faces from the worlds of sport and television took on a team of football legends at St James' Park, the home of Newcastle United, last autumn.
And TV presenter Jonathan Wilkes has revealed that another sell-out match is likely to be staged on Tyneside.
Wilkes scored an 86th-minute goal in the first game to stun an opposing team which included former Newcastle stars Paul Gascoigne, Chris Waddle and Peter Beardsley.
He said he would be returning for the second series as captain and that others had been approached to join the team.
"I think it's going to be held in October, back up in Newcastle. I'm really excited for it," he said.
Endemol UK, which brought The Match to Sky One last October, would only confirm that discussions about another series were taking place.
