FORMER Hartlepool MP Peter Mandelson is set to make more than £200,000 in profit after his home went up for sale at the weekend.
When the semi-detached house is sold, Mr Mandelson, who became MP in 1990, will finally have cut all ties with the Teesside town.
Britain's European commissioner, who twice resigned from the Cabinet before making his front-line political comeback in Brussels last year, bought the house for £69,000 about 15 years ago.
Once a buyer has been found for the six-bedroomed property, which has some "impressive original features", it will bring his estimated total income from property deals to nearly £1m.
When Mr Mandelson left for Brussels, he said it would be a big wrench to leave his constituents.
He said he would return to Hartlepool each year to promote debate on the EU.
The property, with a guide price of £269,950, has gone on the market with Hartlepool estate agent Robinsons.
The house has gas central heating, a burglar alarm, three large reception rooms, fitted pine kitchen and front and rear gardens.
The EU commissioner's most recent purchase, last year, was an £850,000 penthouse in London.
