STUDENTS from Darlington College of Technology have been spending wisely by investing their bonuses on tools of the trade.
Teenagers studying the full-time NVQ wood occupation course receive an education maintenance grant and bonuses for exam targets.
After being given a demonstration of tools by Longhorn Hardware, of Darlington, the 33 students decided to spend their £100 on tools.
Programme leader at the college Andrew Moses said: "They didn't have to spend a penny on equipment, but realised it was in their best interests.
"It's a truly wise investment."
