PUPILS have enjoyed a themed folk arts week at a Darlington school.
A group of year nine students from Hummersknott School and Language College visited the Baltic in Gateshead, where they toured the galleries and worked with artist Cath Campbell to produce sculptures using materials from the environment.
Back in Darlington, all pupils at the school took part in art, music and dance workshops, which included clog dancing, Morris dancing and ceilidh music.
Small delegations of students and staff from Germany, Bulgaria and Belgium were also at the school as part of a project funded by the EU.
Darlington pupils learned about traditional folk dramas, mummer's plays, which have been performed in this country for hundreds of years and are often based on the legend of George and the Dragon.
Pupils, parents and staff performed the plays and enjoyed a ceilidh dance.
Last year, the school gained an Artsmark silver award from the Arts Council.
