A FREE training course is available for people whose friends or family have experience of drug or alcohol problems.
The course, Making Sense of It - Drugs, Alcohol and Health, is being co-ordinated by North-East Open College Network and the County Durham Drug and Alcohol Action Team (Daat).
Sarah Little, parent and carer co-ordinator for Durham Daat, said: "The course is designed for local people who have an interest in drug and alcohol misuse and the impact it has upon health.
"It will be held over a ten-week period covering topics such as the attitudes of young people towards drugs and alcohol, a look at the various drugs and its effects, a look at drugs and the law, and also how drugs and alcohol impact on our health.
"Priority will be given to anyone who is or has lived with someone who has or had difficulties with drugs or alcohol."
No previous experience or qualifications are necessary and there may be help towards travel and childcare expenses.
A certificate will be presented at the end of the course from North-East Open College Network.
Anyone interested in attending, can contact Jill Jefferson on 0191-333-3237 for more details.
