A BAKERY chain is planning to implement a new staff management system thanks to a North-East employee.
Tracy Williams, 35, manager of the Greggs store in North Shields, North Tyneside, introduced a staff rotation system to keep her workers happy.
The move had such a positive effect on productivity that the company is considering putting it into practice at all its 1,200-plus branches.
Ms Williams, from Washington, Wearside, said: "As a long-serving Greggs employee, I understand how effective multi-skilled staff can be to the successful running of the shop.
"I've been delighted with how staff have worked with me to implement the new scheme."
Graham Randell, Greggs North-East managing director, said: "Tracy is a fine example of how listening to ideas from staff can lead to successful changes within the company.
"Tracy has proven herself a manager who listens and implements changes for her staff to make their day-to-day working life more productive and efficient.
"The most positive aspect is that, thanks to Tracy's fantastic initiative, other staff within the Greggs group will benefit from her wonderful idea."
