MUCH-TRAVELLED teddy bear Doddy was a civic guest when the Mayor of Darlington returned to the country of his birth.
The mascot of Dodmire Infants' School took a trip to Trinidad with Councillor Roderick Francis, who was returning to the island to visit his father.
The journey was the latest in a series of adventures for Doddy, who has watched England's football team in the World Cup, climbed a volcano in Costa Rica and visited a Japanese temple.
Councillor Francis was at a ceremony to open a nursery at Dodmire and after hearing of Doddy's travels, he agreed to take him on his visit home.
Dodmire headteacher Maureen Dixon said: "The mayor's car arrived here to collect Doddy and off he went. He's had a great time, he's had his passport stamped and the children are delighted to see him."
