DEDICATED John Perry is still mad about pancakes, even though he has made more than 130 million of them.
In a career that has spanned 14 years, the 37-year-old father-of-one has broken all records at the factory where he works. Employer Findus said he has made more of its crispy pancakes than any worker in the company's history.
But despite churning out thousands of pancakes every day, Mr Perry will still be manning the frying pan at home tonight as his wife, Deborah, 36, and son Matthew, eight, wait for him to serve up their traditional Shrove Tuesday supper.
He said: "I just love pancakes. People think I must hate the sight of them after making so many in my life, but I don't."
He began work at Findus, in Longbenton, Newcastle, in 1990. He has worked for most of that time in B Department, known as the pancake hall.
It is his machine that takes the dough, fills it, covers it in breadcrumbs and fries it.
On an average shift, his machine produces 59,520 pancakes -7,440 an hour.
He said: "Apparently, no one has ever stayed at this post as long as I have, but I do not know why.
"Every day throws up new challenges."
