EFFORTS in aid of the Asian tsunami appeal helped to bring joy to families in Sedgefield.
All 220 pupils of Hardwick Primary School, Sedgefield, contributed to the fundraising, which is on target to raise £1,000.
They collected sponsorship for a range of tasks including tidying their bedrooms, making their beds, folding their clothes, doing their homework without prompting, and some went without sweets or television for the day.
Headteacher Linda Johnston said: "The idea was thought of by our nursery staff who wanted the children to have real involvement in raising money following the tsunami.
"We are absolutely delighted at the enthusiasm shown and are very proud of our children."
* A Barnard Castle DLI club and Barnard Castle lodge of the RAOB function raised £786 for the tsunami appeal. The sum also includes donations from the DLI club's darts and dominoes teams.
