FORMER Lindisfarne frontman Billy Mitchell will bring his new one-man show to two North-East venues.

Mr Mitchell, a long-time associate of the Tyneside band, joined following the death in 1995 of acclaimed singer-songwriter Alan Hull and was a member until the band split up in November 2003.

Now he is on a national tour with his Backtrackin' show, which looks back at his 40-year involvement in music.

Mr Mitchell was a member of the 1970s folk-rock group Jack the Lad, which included ex-Lindisfarne members, part of the musical comedy duo Maxie and Mitch, and has appeared in pantomime in Newcastle.

His show features songs from his career dating back to the music that influenced him as a teenager. He will play at the Phoenix Theatre, in Blyth, Northumberland, on Saturday, February 19, at 8pm.

Tickets cost £10, concessions £8, and are available from the box office on (01670) 367228.

On Tuesday, March 22 he will be at the Playhouse Theatre, Whitley Bay, North Tyneside.

The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £12, concessions £10, available on 0191-252 3505.
