PUPILS at a Darlington school have learned about road safety by taking part in a drama workshop.
The year seven students at Eastbourne Comprehensive School enjoyed the Why did the Chicken Cross the Road? play and took part in workshops based around staying safe in the streets.
The event was hosted by the Stopwatch Theatre Company and carried important messages about cycle and pedestrian safety. The dangers of playing "chicken" were graphically illustrated.
All the year seven students at the school, aged 11 and 12, took part.
Headteacher Karen Pemberton, said: "The performance was lively and the pupils especially liked the part when their head of year, Bob Caldwell, took part in the Valentine Disco, dancing with one of the actresses.
"Learning through drama in this way has a very powerful effect and pupils will remember this performance far longer than anything they could have read in a book or been told by a teacher in a classroom."
