A TEENAGER has raised £300 for the Asian tsunami appeal by walking a mile on stilts.
Matthew Kirk, 15, took up the unusual challenge after deciding he wanted to do something different to help the victims of the disaster.
On Sunday the Bedale High School pupil walked a mile from Leeming Village to Londonderry on a pair of stilts and dressed up in a street entertainer's costume.
He was accompanied by friends and family, including his 12-year-old sister Laura, who spent two weeks raising sponsorship for the event.
The walk ended at the home of his grandparents in Londonderry, where he was welcomed over the finish line by a reception party of 30 neighbours, relatives and friends.
