A CONVICTED bomber jailed for attempting to assassinate the President of Spain is to visit the region during this weekend's Labour Party conference.
Stuart Christie served three years in prison for his part in a failed bomb plot to assassinate General Franco.
The Glaswegian anarchist was arrested as he tried to smuggle explosives from London to Madrid as part of a 1964 plot to kill the fascist dictator.
Mr Christie will be a key- note speaker as anarchists converge on Tyneside, half a mile from the site of Labour's spring conference at The Sage, Gateshead, for "the biggest anarchist gathering outside London for many years".
Mr Christie will speak at the Projectile Festival of Anarchist Film and Thought, at The Side Gallery, on Newcastle's Quayside.
