Children have spent their half term break bringing one of their favourite stories to life.
The group of 21 youngsters is retelling Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale of The Little Mermaid on stage in Bishop Auckland Town Hall this afternoon.
Their performance ends a week of workshops with storyteller and performer Eileen Glenton and artist Sue Abel.
They led lessons in acting, making costumes and props and building scenery.
Stage staff in the Town Hall's Eden Theatre passed on tips on lighting techniques and sound effects.
Ms Glenton said: "They have worked very hard all week.
"It has been a very successful way of celebrating Andersen's 200th anniversary this year.
