A PENSIONER has appealed against a decision not to let him cut down a sycamore tree he says puts his house at risk.
Roots from the 80-year-old tree outside Richard Lamming's house in Aiskew, near Bedale, have caused his 6ft garden wall to lean and crack.
Mr Lamming, 75, believes that the tree, which is covered by a preservation order, would destroy his home completely if it blew down, as well as damage his neighbour's house.
The pensioner said that applied to Hambleton District Council for permission to cut it down, but his request was refused and he has now launched an appeal against the decision.
He said: "This tree is only 7ft from my garden wall and 10ft from my conservatory and house.
"This gives me tremendous anxiety and stress at 75 years old - and I don't need this worry."
