COUNCILLORS in Wear Valley are expected to agree a rise of 3.6 per cent in the authority's council tax levy later this week.
Officers are recommending the increase to members of the policy and strategic development committee on Friday.
But ratepayers will not know their final bill for 2005/2006 until Durham County Council and Durham police and fire authorities agree their new precepts.
A rise in council house rents of 3.4 per cent will also be discussed at Friday's meeting, which opens in the Civic Centre at 10am.
