A FREE town guide has been brought back after a three-year absence.
The Rotary Club of Guisborough and Great Ayton has revived the Guisborough Family Focus.
The guide was first published 20 years ago by a group of young mothers who wanted to find information about nursery schools, crches and doctors' surgeries. The publication grew from a few photocopied sheets to a 96-page booklet, listing every known organisation in the town and it was published up to three times each year.
"We are delighted to be able to revive this essential service for the town," said solicitor Mark Hards, who is the local rotary club president.
Rotarians with professional backgrounds, ranging from a retired printer, to an IT teacher and members with sales and data-management skills got together to publish the new version of the guide.
"It took over 160 man-hours, that's four working weeks, to contact all the organisations, update their entries and prepare everything for the printers," said past president and retired banker Geoff Brown.
Family Focus 2005 is available from Guisborough Library, schools, churches, surgeries and a number of shops throughout the town.
The costs were covered by the advertisers.
