A DIETICIAN has signed up for a mountain trek to raise money for cancer patients.
Sarah Richmond, a former pupil of Huntcliff School in Saltburn, east Cleveland, is taking part in a hike across the Peruvian mountains.
The Macmillan dietician spends her working life helping cancer patients and now she is hoping to raise money for the charity.
In May, she will join about 60 people to trek the Inca Trail on Macmillan's Peru Hiking Challenge.
The ten-day journey will take walkers to a 4,200m Andean peak and along high mountain passes to Machu Picchu, Peru's lost city of the Incas.
She said: "It promises to be an extremely testing physical challenge as we will be trekking and rough camping in remote and dramatic conditions."
After leaving Saltburn to study at Leicester University and later work in a hospital pathology laboratory, Ms Richmond trained as a dietician at Leeds Metropolitan University. She now works with Macmillan nurses in Coventry.
