A SCHOOL, marking its 75th anniversary, is celebrating the opening of its extension.
Red House School, in Norton, near Stockton, has a new nursery, classrooms, offices and a larger hall following extensive building work.
Alongside this project, a refurbishment programme has been carried out in the existing school building to improve facilities.
Sally Harris, chairman of the school governors, said: "This is a significant occasion in the history of Red House School. A lot of people have worked exceptionally hard to make this day a reality and thanks must be extended to everyone involved, including staff, parents and students.
"In the year that the school celebrates its 75th anniversary, what better way to look forward to the next 75 years and demonstrate our commitment to the future progression of the school and its students than to open this exciting new development."
There was a small ceremony to mark the occasion, during which Joy Ryan, wife of a former headmaster, cut the red ribbon across the gates to the extension.
