A MECHANIC who agreed to give a friend a lift to pick up some drugs was yesterday jailed for two years.
Stephen McGlasson, 29, agreed to take a man to Consett to pick up £1,240 worth of cocaine in exchange for £50.
Newcastle Crown Court heard how they were stopped by police on the return journey and the stash of Class A drugs was quickly discovered.
McGlasson, of Castle Road, Prudhoe, Northumberland, admitted possessing a Class A drug with intent to supply.
The other man fled the scene and is believed to be still on the run.
Defence barrister Caroline Goodwin said McGlasson, who has a string of convictions, could be described as "a Del Boy type character".
