COUNCIL house tenants in Easington are likely to face a weekly rent rise of £1.55.
The district council is recommending an increase of an average of 3.5 per cent, which is below the Government guideline of 4.1 per cent.
The increase will take effect from Monday, April 4.
The council has decided to keep the increase at the same level as last year, but many tenants will pay less as a result of the Government's national rent restructuring policy.
Tenants will each receive a letter giving them four weeks' notice of the increase.
