A STASH of stolen antique jewellery has been recovered following a police probe into a spate of shed burglaries.
Police are now trying to trace the original owners of the jewellery.
The jewellery was recovered following a investigation into several shed break-ins which took place in Cockfield, County Durham, over the last few months.
A number of people were arrested following the investigation and a small quantity of jewellery was also recovered.
However, police do not know where the jewellery came from.
Sergeant Victoria Errington of Bishop Auckland CID said: "It's quite distinctive. Although I'm no expert it doesn't appear to be very valuable, however it may have sentimental value to the owners.
"If anybody has had anything stolen recently or thinks they may know where the jewellery came from, we'd like them to get in touch."
Anyone with information can call Sgt Errington or DC Darren Cresswell on 0845 6060 365.
