A BALLROOM dancing revival is continuing with a trial tea dance becoming a regular monthly date.
Hot on the heels of the ratings-winning Strictly Come Dancing series, on BBC TV, two musical veterans from the Durham area teamed up to stage an afternoon of nostalgia for those in the 50-plus age range.
George Hetherington and Geoff Phillips are behind the new foray into the tea dance scene.
The Soccarena indoor football complex was the unlikely venue for the informal event.
It went down well with those who attended and was repeated last month to the delight of the dance band crowd.
Mr Phillips, on guitar, and Mr Hetherington, on keyboard, played in their share of dance bands on regular dates at some of the leading hotels across the North-East during its heyday.
They will now be performing the accompaniment for anyone keen to enjoy a dance, on the first Thursday of each month, from 2pm to 5pm, starting next week.
The entrance fee is £3 and includes a drink and a cake.
